  机械工业出版社自1952年成立以来,一贯坚持社会主义的出版方向,秉承“为科技服务、为教育服务”的出版宗旨,紧跟科技进步和时代发展,以传播先进科学技术和文化知识为己任,支撑了我国机电行业的技术开发和工程实践,引领了计算机信息技术和装备制造业的发展潮流。2013年,《机械工业出版社新世纪创新发展之路》案例被哈佛大学案例库收录,成为中国出版业首家入选哈佛大学案例库的出版单位。
  60余年来,机械工业出版社向工程技术领域、高等教育领域等提供了大量优质、权威的知识产品,累计出书3万多种。改革开放以来,机工社已经走出专业出版的范畴,向着大型综合性科技教育出版集团迈进。产业结构由传统的图书出版沿着现代出版、产品流通、电子商务产业链延伸;出版形式由单一的纸质图书向着电子出版物、音像制品等现代媒介发展;图书产品覆盖了机械、电工电子、汽车、计算机、经济管理、建筑、外语、教辅、生活、少儿、外语、军事、心理、农业等多个专业领域。
  多年来,机械工业出版社累计出版、销售图书6.1亿册;累计引进版权近4000种,输出版权170多种,版权贸易额近3000万美元。产品覆盖全国的大中城市(包括台湾、港澳地区),2002年~2011年连续10年始终保持国内图书零售市场占有率排名第一的纪录。2011年电商崛起,图书销售渠道的变化显著。机工社积极顺应电商发展趋势,与网店合作,2013年零售市场占有率实体店和网店综合排名第一,受到广大经销商和读者的好评。机械、电工、汽车、经管图书在细分领域排名第一,建筑图书排名第二,计算机图书排名第三,外语图书进入前十名,少儿、外语类图书从无到有,发展迅速,特别是雅思系列、MBA系列、德鲁克系列、定位系列、计算机科学丛书等图书已形成特色品牌。
  展望未来,机械工业出版社将以国际化视野创新管理思想和方法,搭建多领域、精品化的出版平台,在资源开发、品牌营销、网络出版、市场规范、版权贸易等方面,与时俱进,开拓创新,在巩固保持专业特色优势、突出做好主业的同时,扩大产业链,延伸产品线,进一步做大做强,力争成为国内一流、世界知名的出版社。

          As a national preeminent publisher in China, China Machine Press (CMP), since its founding in 1952, has been sticking to the believe for publication that it is to provide excellent services not only for the development of science and technology, but also for all the sectors of China’s national economy, and education for all people. With a gradually-shaped industrial pattern that is composed of professional publication, educational publication and general publication, CMP has successfully extended the industrial chain further along modern digital publication, product circulation, E-commerce as well as E-learning.
         Taking the propagation of both advanced technology and advanced culture as its task with those high-quality publication resources inside and outside China extensively selected, CMP publishes each year more than 3700 new titles, among which over 400 are translated ones, thus, making CMP enjoy a yearly turnover of one billion RMB from its publishing business. The establishment of CMP’s market brand is just based on advanced ideas, elaborate publication and superior products featured by more translated titles, more grand reference books and more textbooks. All the publications released by CMP in the past 60 years have taken so important roles in not only supporting the technological development and engineering practice of China’s manufacturing industry, guiding the domestic trend of managerial ideas and fostering qualified engineers and managerial personnel; but also dedicating a lot to the creation of a good life for the general public of China. 
        Since the policy of reform and opening-up to the world was adopted in 1980’s, China Machine Press has insisted in its market-oriented development, which makes it a large comprehensive publishing group from a traditional publisher, characteristic of multi-discipline, multi-level and multi-media with its leading position in the publishing circle of China. In the retail market, CMP’s line of products has successfully covered such a variety of subjects as mechanical engineering, E & E engineering, automotive technology, architecture, computer science, business & management, foreign language, education, technical training, and life with an admirable market share that no doubt makes the CMP rank first for its mechanical, electrical, automotive as well as business & management books; second for architecture titles, and fourth for computer science. CMP also undertakes 4 publishing programs sponsored by the State Publication Fund and 12 key publishing programs planned by the State for the next five years as well. In the textbook market, our products are available for the students at different levels, e.g. technical workers, vocational or professional students, under-graduates and graduates of colleges and universities. Around 900 titles were selected as the State’s Eleventh Five-year Plan Textbook, and 30 others, awarded as An Excellent Textbook.
        CMP has been ranking first in China’s domestic book retail market for 9 consecutive years since 2002 and from the year of 2008 it has been appraised as one of The 500 Most Valuable Brands in China by the World Brand Laboratory. In 2009, CMP won a first-class prize in the Appraisal of Outstanding Publishers and Book Stores in China, organized by the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP).
